Education

1992-97: University of Torun (Copernicus University), Poland, masters degree in
theoretical mathematics with teaching qualifications. Diploma officially
approved as equivalent (or more) to a Belgian "Licentiaat
Wiskunde" with "Pedagogische kwalificatie", and thus
automatically approved in all European Community countries.
Thesis: "Continuation method for contractions and applications in
differential calculus".
Graduated with top honors.

2003-2009 (of which almost 19 months, 7/6/2005 - 1/1/2007, on maternity leave):
Ph.D. from Uppsala University, Sweden.
Thesis: "Digital lines, Sturmian words, and continued fractions" defended on 25 September 2009.
Languages

Fluent in Polish, Swedish, Dutch, English and Russian (well, in the latest one I am not so fluent any more...). Planning to learn French (or Italian). But first I will learn Objective-C and related topics.

8 November 2008: I was the leader of a workshop "groups" for the participants of "Sonja Kovalevskydagarna" at Uppsala University. Here you can find the notes I wrote for the students (in Swedish). I worked also in the problem-solving group.

14-18 September 2009: Participated in the 7th International Conference on Words (Salerno, Italy), Words 2009. I presented my article there (on 17 September) and gave an oral presentation.

Autumn 2000, Complexe getallen (Complex numbers, in Dutch), an interactive Mathematica notebook designed, programmed and written by me during my work for the Exploot project (led by Professor Ivan Cnop) at the Flemish University of Brussels, Belgium. The notebook has been used as teaching material for Dutch speaking students. It can be found on the home page of Exploot (you have to click on "Fourier en complexe analyse" left on the page, then click on "complexe getallen" left on the next page).
